I know this Thread is almost a year old but I thought that I would chime in. I am looking at buying a 1975 Eldocraft Roughneck with a 2 Stroke Evinrude 135. The person selling it is only askin $350 but one of the cylinders has low compression. I think Im going to get it anyway and see if I can fix the engine myself. I has never heard of a Eldocraft and thought that I would do some research and there is more info here than anywhere else on the web. I will probably buy the boat tonight and plan to restore it. We should all post pictures so others that may be searching for info will be able to at least find some pictures.

I worked at Eldo Craft Boat Co. in Smackover, AR. in 1982. Shortly after I started working there, it was sold out to a company from up north. Yes, a lot of people worked there, as Smackover is a very small town. My husband worked in the plant where the boats were made, and I worked in the office in inventory. We didn't work there long, but knew people who had been there all of their working lives. They made very very good boats and it is really sad that the factory closed down. I no longer live there, and do not know if the company moved elsewhere or simply closed down. There are still many boats around where I live that were made by this company.

Roughneck boats were made in Smackover, Arkansas. Fiberglass only. ElDoCraft aluminum boats were also made in Smackover. Can't remember exact year that ElDoCraft branched out into fiberglass boats. 2 different companies, 2 different owners. Roughneck sold out & new owner moved company. ElDoCraft was still in production in 1990 but shut down around that time.

I own an Eldocraft Roughneck, 1980 fiberglass bass boat with a Roadmaster trailer. Must have been beautiful back in the day with silver metallic flake paint on the fiberglass. I've learned more from your posts than I knew in the previous 3 years since buying it. 15'6" V-hull and does have the ELD MIC. Still has the 115 tower of power Merc on it and other than a new starter is still going strong.

Can anyone tell me who bought Eldo-Craft Boat Company back in the 80’s? And did the company name change during that time period?
